No longer a perk for TDM users, DUY's DaD Tape (Mac; approximately $388) plug-in is now available in RTAS, AU, VST, and MAS formats. In addition to modeling four types of tape machines—including a vintage unit with valve circuitry and a '70s amplifier-based model—DaD Tape offers simulation of three noise-reduction systems, a noiseless-tape mode, and switchable tape speed. The new VCI-100 DJ MIDI controller from Vestax features two jog wheels with pulse and touch sensors and turntable mechanisms to approximate real DJ-style mixing. Roughly the size of a laptop and compatible with USB, the VCI-100 features MIDI In/Out, 66 assignable parameters, an adjustable crossfader curve, and cross-platform compatibility. As an added bonus, the VCI-100 ships with a bundled version of Native Instruments Traktor LE digital DJ software.
