Blue Cat Audio's Dynamics 1.4 (Windows; approximately $84) is a processing plug-in that can act as a compressor, limiter, expander, gate, or distortion unit, as well as provide side chain capabilities and MIDI and automation output. The 1.4 version adds a new user interface, faster skin loading, reduced memory consumption, enhanced compression graph clarity and rendering performance, window opacity, and more.

The MicPort 24/96 USB Mic Preamp is the latest USB device from CEntrance, Inc. Developed for portability, the MicPort is housed in a rugged aluminum chassis and offers 48V phantom power, zero-latency monitoring, and a stereo headphone jack. It requires no external power supply, batteries, or driver installation, and it is compatible with most recording software. CEntrance expects to announce the price and ship the MicPort in June 2007.
