Blue Cat Audio's newly-released FreqAnalyst Pro (Win; $49 special introduction price) is an extended version of the company's FreqAnalyst freeware DirectX and VST plug-in. This mono/stereo real-time spectrum analyzer features an interpolation algorithm, spectrum and spectrogram views, a "save curves" function for A/B comparison, audio to MIDI and automation conversion, and much more. Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst Pro is available individually or within the Analysis Pack (approximately $74) or All Plug-ins Pack (approximately $370) bundles. A demo version is available for download from Blue Cat's product pages.

Just released today, Cakewalk's free (for registered customers) Rapture 1.1 update offers many new features, including Native Windows Vista support and RTAS and VSTi Universal Binary support. MORE.

LennarDigital has released v. 1.20 of its Sylenth1 (approximately $182) VSTi synthesizer, which includes an arpeggiator with a built-in step sequencer, a 4-stage chorus/flanger effect, 10 different melodic modes, 250 new presets, and several improvements and bug fixes. The 1.20 update is free for all registered users of Sylenth1. You can download a demo version from LennarDigital's Web site.

Now available as a Universal Binary, the Max Magic Microtuner 1.6.0 (Mac) is a software editor that allows you to create and edit microtonal scales. You can also create, import, play, edit, and export microtuning keymaps compatible with synths supporting the MIDI Tuning Standard (MTS) format. The 1.6.0 update features an MTX archive with more than 3,400 tuning files.

MXL Microphones is shipping its MXL Cube ($69.99) and MXL 190 ($149.99) microphones exclusively through Musician's Friend. MORE.

Soniccouture has released Konkrete2: Drum & Percussion Library ($75 download; $123 bundled with Konkrete1), which features 25 drum kits, 61 keys per kit, over 1,600 24-bit samples, and added Velocity layering. Konkrete2 is programmed for a variety of formats: Native Instruments Kontakt 2, Battery 2 and 3, Steinberg HALion, Propellerhead Reason NN-XT, and Apple Logic EXS24.
