Access Music has released the Universal Binary version of Virus TI as a free update.

Beta Monkey Music has released Double Bass Mania II: The Return of the Beast ($29.99), a collection of more than 800 double-bass drum grooves, variations, fills, and samples meant for heavy metal tracks. Double Bass Mania is available in WAV and Apple Loops formats. The REX2 version will ship on September 18, 2006.

Kid Nepro has announced that the Patch King Podcast Volume 2: Music from the Caribbean is now available online. The Podcast features the music of Jamaica's Mikey General and Milton Blake, as well as Barbados's Magnet Man. MXL has announced the MXL.006 USB cardioid condenser microphone ($149.95). The mic features a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response; a large diaphragm; support for USB 1.1 and 2.0; and a built-in three-position attenuation switch.

Red Microphones has introduced the Type A ($1,345), a tube microphone based on a system of interchangeable capsules (from $249 to $849 each). To celebrate the release of this new mic, Red will include a free R7 capsule ($650 value) to customers who purchase the mic by September 31, 2006. MORE.

RME is shipping the Fireface 400 (Mac/Win; $1,199), a 36-channel, 24-bit/192 kHz FireWire audio interface. It includes two digitally controlled mic preamps, active jitter suppression, a 648-channel matrix mixer, and more.
