The Institute For Advanced Digital Audio Training, is sponsoring the Monday MAY 7th kick-off event for the San Francisco Chapter of The Recording Academy's new "GRAMMY U Media Mash-Up" contest. In this contest created by the local GRAMMY(R) Chapter, students from all schools are invited to create 3-minute audio and video mash-ups using original files supplied by students. A select industry panel will evaluate the finished mash-up projects in July 2007. One grand prize-winner will be chosen from the final mash-up submissions, and will be selected for how the piece addresses the contest themes of "music education and arts philanthropy," the creative use of the audio and video clips, and their expertise in editing. Prizes from industry manufacturers will be announced soon.

Contestants can learn all about this innovative contest at the launch party MAY 7, 2007 at Pyramind's facilities at 880 Folsom Street, San Francisco. The event will showcase how students can create mash-ups and how to use the software SpinXpress. For more information call (415) 749-0779, or check the GRAMMY website (www.grammy.com) for up-to-date information and entry forms.

"The GRAMMY U Media Mash-Up contest is the kind of community building and learning experience Pyramind likes to support," said Greg Gordon, President of Pyramind. "Any time that our school can host an event like this that fits into our mission to expose musicians and producers to new experiences and connections, we try to do it. Audio and video mash-ups are a cutting-edge format, and the novel approach to sharing original media between contestants through SpinXpress software seems like a brilliant way to spur creativity and help educate students on the many facets of digital copyright management and licensing."
