RNDigital has released FIREQ and FIREQ LE.
FIREQ (Mac/Win; $249) is a 1/6th octave stereo finite impulse response (FIR) mastering equalizer with linear phase characteristics. It includes 62 EQ bands with gain/reduction of +/- 27 dB per band; an overall output gain/reduction range of +/- 24 dB, and a larger, easy-to-read interface. With FIREQ, you can edit the EQ curve by dragging the fixed control points or by drawing a freehand curve; learn the spectral characteristics of one audio source and apply it to another; store, copy, move, delete, recall, and save 50 different EQ snapshots for automation; and more. Frequalizer owners can get FIREQ at no charge.
FIREQ LE (Mac/Win; $129), on the other hand, is a 1/3rd octave stereo finite impulse response (FIR) mastering equalizer with linear phase characteristics. Although this equalizer incorporates the same filter characteristics of FIREQ, it does not allow for spectral matching or the use of states. The layout of FIREQ LE includes 31EQ bands with gain/reduction of +/- 27 dB per band, freehand curve drawing, extensive history, left/right channel linking and editing, a detailed customizable spectral display, two workspaces, and an overall output gain/reduction range of +/- 24 dB.
Both products support sampling rates to 192 kHz and require a VST, AU, or RTAS host. For more information, please visit rndigital.org.
