At this year’s NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, New Bay Media, the publisher of Electronic Musician, Keyboard and many other top-brand musical instrument titles, presided over the 2016 Super Namm Awards.

For these distinctions, panels of expert judges considered each product submitted and judged them in person based on value, versatility, design, craftsmanship, feel, sound, cosmetics and that elusive something special, “mojo.” Items were scored on an average based on a 1-10 rating, which took into account only the criteria that were applicable for each product.

The Electronic Musician Super NAMM Award winners for 2016 are:

Yamaha Montage - available in 61-, 76- and 88-key configurations, fthe Montage features the Motion Control Synthesizer Engine, a powerful and intuitive way to interact with and control sound using two iconic engines: Advanced Wave Memory 2 (AWM2) and FM-X. The AWM2 engine is compatible with previous Motif libraries, but is much more powerful than the flagship Motif XF keyboard, with nearly ten times more wave memory, integrated flash, double the effects and twice the polyphony. The sophisticated FM-X is a pure FM (Frequency Modulation) synthesizer engine capable of producing classic ‘80s or cutting-edge EDM sound with incredible dynamic range, power and fidelity. A brand new user interface includes a color touch screen, endless rotary encoders and the Super Knob: a macro control allowing users to control multiple parameters simultaneously. The Montage will ship in May 2016 for MSRPs of $3,499, $3,999 and $4,499.
