eX-Girl: Back to the Mono Kero! (ipecac; http://0505.net/ex-girl). A vocal-driven Japanese trio that combines the best of '80s new wave, progressive rock (ala Henry Cow), and post-punk sensibilities.

Morton Subotnick: Volume 1: Electronic Works (Mode 97 DVD; www.mode.com). Beautiful multichannel works. Especially appealing for fans of Buchla instruments.

Palette Sonore: Structures Sonores Baschet (SSP 01;www.cdemusic.org). These are pieces played on the marvelous Baschet sound sculptures.

Ivan Tcherepnin: Flores Musicales, etc (CRI 684; www.cdemusic.org). Lovely works for acoustic instruments and electronic processing using Serge modular synths.

C-Side & Petit Mal: Swarm Warnings: Gatmo Sessions, vol. 2 (Gatmo; www.jackaloperecords.com/gatmo.html). A disc of improvisations by the finest instrument inventors in California, with Tom Waits as a guest vocalist.

M. Griffin/D. Fulton: The Most Distant Point Known (Hypnos;www.hypnos.com). Slowly evolving soundscapes created with Synthesis Technology MOTM and Doepfer analog modular synthesizers.
