DigiTech has unveiled two new Artist Series modeling guitar pedals: the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Crossroads Limited Edition Artist Series Effects Pedal (the latter designed in conjunction with Eric Clapton and his guitar technician, Lee Dickson).
DigiTech's engineers worked in conjunction with Eddie Kramer, the recording engineer and producer who recorded Hendrix, to create the Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal. To accomplish this, DigiTech used Jimi Hendrix''s original multi-track master tapes, made at Olympic Studios and Electric Lady Studios. The pedal uses DigiTech's proprietary Production Modeling technology to recreate the sounds from seven classic Hendrix tracks: Purple Haze (modeled on the Fuzz Face pedal played into a 100W Marshall Super Lead amp processed with an EMT plate reverb and Octavia pedal); Little Wing (including the tone from the miniature rotary speaker recorded at London''s Olympic Studios); Voodoo Child (based on the Vox Clyde McCoy Wah pedal, brown Fender Bassman amp, and an EMT plate reverb); and All Along the Watchtower (recreated using Hendrix''s acoustic guitar plus a 100W Marshall Super Lead amp).
