M-Audio has announced the JamLab (Mac/Win; $79.95), a 24-bit USB interface for guitarists. The interface, which operates at 44.1 or 48 kHz, is bundled with DSound GT Player Express (Mac/Win) as well as 160 MB of WAV drum loops from M-Audio's ProSessions Sound and Loops Library. Besides the USB and 1/4-inch inputs, the JamLab includes an 1/8-inch jack that can be used as a line output or headphone output.

GT Player Express features amp simulation and virtual effects boxes for distortion, EQ, chorus, delay, reverb, and noise gating. The software can also play standard AAC, MP3, and WAV audio files.

The JamLab package can be used as a standalone product or in conjunction with most host software sequencers. The product supports Core Audio, WDM, ASIO 2, ReWire, and VST. For more information, visit M-Audio online.
