OZOMATLI TO PERFORM TWO SHOWS IN LOS ANGELES AT CLUB NOKIA
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18th & SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19th
? OZO TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRAMMY MUSEUM’S FAMILY FRIENDLY “MUSICAL EXPLORATIONS” SERIES
? SPECIAL “ULTIMATE OZOHEAD” 2-DAY VIP PASSES AVAILABLE
Ozomatli celebrate their return home to Los Angeles with two shows - Friday, December 18th & Saturday, December 19th - at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia (800 West Olympic Blvd, LA. CA.)
In addition to the two Club Nokia shows - both presented by KCRW 89.9 FM - Ozomatli will be participating in The GRAMMY Museum’s “Musical Explorations” series at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Dec. 19th. The program, designed to teach families about different genres of music, will also feature a special opportunity for families planning to attend Ozo’s morning and evening performances. Children will learn a song with the members of Ozomatli at the Museum in the morning and will then be invited to join the band on stage at their Club Nokia show that evening. Adults buying tickets to both the GRAMMY Museum and Club Nokia shows on December 19 will be able to bring their children to the evening show free of charge (10 years old & under only please).
For the devoted fans, a two-day “Ultimate Ozohead” pass is available, offering pit access for both shows, meet and greet with Ozo, entry to the official Ozo after-parties (both nights) in the Ozo Lounge VIP Room, commemorative Ozomatli Tour Poster and laminate, and copies of set lists from both shows.
Los Angeles radio station 98.7 FM is also promoting the Club Nokia show, offering a chance for a lucky Rock-a-Holic member (98.7’s VIP member club) and three friends to win an opportunity to hang with Ozomatli in a special suite at the Los Angeles Lakers game on December 11th.
Often describing their pioneering mash-up of hip hop, salsa, and cumbia as "the people's music”, Ozomatli recently served as US cultural ambassadors with a US sponsored State Department trip that included Ozomatli community outreach and performances in Rangoon, Myanmar; Ho Chi Mihn City in Vietnam; and Bangkok, Thailand. Ozomatli have been tracking new songs for their Downtown / Mercer Street debut (2010 release) with veteran producer Tony Berg (Public Image Limited, Aimee Mann) at his studio in Los Angeles.
The GRAMMY Museum’s “Musical Explorations” series, offered monthly, gives families the opportunity to enjoy and learn about music together through performances from award-winning artists and educational crafts and activities.
