Tech 21 has offered a sneak preview of its forthcoming SansAmp PSA-1.1 ($795) rackmount preamp, a redesign of the popular SansAmp PSA-1. The new features will include a master volume control, a front-panel power switch, more program locations, an XLR ground-lift switch, phantom power, MIDI input, and a dedicated headphone output.
The SansAmp PSA-1.1 comes with 49 factory presets that recreate vintage and modern tube amp sounds for use with guitar and bass. The device also offers 77 user-definable locations.
The Universal Output Section makes the output signal compatible with full range systems as well as guitar and bass speaker cabinets. The SansAmp PSA-1.1 can be used to record direct to tape, or to process existing tracks during mixdown. For live applications, it can be used as a pre-amp, a direct box to a P.A. system, or as an outboard processor.
Using MIDI, you can exchange presets, map program locations, and select MIDI channels (including Omni Mode). Remote program changes can also be made via MIDI. Other features include dual 1/4-inch and XLR outputs for stereo processing, either of which can be set at line or instrument level, and used simultaneously. The non-glare, 3-digit LED display is readable from any angle. Visit Tech 21 online for more information.
