Vox has introduced two new Custom Classic all-tube amps and one new digital amp. The AC15-based Custom Classic models utilize two EL84/6BQ5 and two 12AX7/ECC83 tubes. Dual speaker jacks are provided, as well as an Impedance Selector control (8 or 16 Ohms). The amps have controls for Input, Master Volume, Treble, and Bass, as well as fully variable tremolo with Speed and Depth controls. A global reverb is also available. The included VF002 dual footswitch can be used for switching reverb or tremolo.
Two versions of the amp are available. The AC15CC1 ($899) has a Vox Custom 12-inch 30W speaker. The AC15CC1X ($1,399) has a Celestion AlNiCo "Blue" 12-inch speaker. Both models include a diamond grille cloth and classic chicken-head knobs.
Vox has also announced the DA5 ($190), a 5W digital amplifier with built-in effects and 24-bit, 44.1 kHz signal processing. For portability, the DA5 can operate on battery power. The DA5 features 11 amplifier tones, as well as 11 single and combination effects, including auto-wah, compressor, delay, reverb, flanger, phaser, chorus, tremolo, rotary speaker, and noise reduction.
The amp's power select switch lets you adjust the power amplifier output by selecting one of three values: 5W, 1.5W, or 0.5W. This allows you to turn the master volume all the way up to drive the power amp for maximum tone and feel while keeping the output volume level reasonable. The Aux In can accept line-level signals for connecting a mixer, CD, or MP3 player. A separate mic input, with its own level control, is also included. All three inputs may be used simultaneously,
The DA5 has a proprietary 6.5-inch, 8-Ohm speaker and weighs just over 7.5 pounds. It can be powered by either the included AC adapter or by six C batteries. For more information, click here.
