Waves has released a CD-based interactive course called Production-Mixing-Mastering with Waves ($80). Written by Anthony Egizii, the course's seven CD-ROMs contain session files for use in audio editing software. The files are used to teach DAW users how to master specific signal processing tools, and a 14-day demo set of Waves software programs is also included.
The CD guides the user through the process of how the songs were arranged and produced, while explaining various techniques used in the production process. The course lets students listen to and experiment with five professionally mixed tracks using Waves proprietary plug-ins, and browse the settings of each individual instrument used in the songs. Also included is a comprehensive demonstration of how Waves plug-ins function within a mix, covering equalizers, compressors, reverbs, delays, choruses, and creative effects.
The course is available at authorized Waves dealers or from the company's Web site.
